Paul Kidby was born in 1964 in Middlesex, near London, the youngest of three. He has been drawing for as long as he can remember. He earned two O-levels, one in art and one in technical drawing. The story about him making false teeth really is true, sadly. He went into freelance art at the age of 22, in 1986. He was inspired by the fantasy art of Roger Dean, Rodney Matthews and Patrick Woodroffe. Other influences include Durer, Vermeer, Velazquez, pre-Raphaelite art including Waterhouse, and more modern artists including Arthur Rackham.

If you have questions regarding availability of his artwork, have a look at The Paul Kidby Discworld Art site. If you have questions about using Paul's artwork, ask first.

The lack of pictures from the GURPS Discworld has been commented on, and I'm told (thank you, Dave Silberstein) that this will show you what I'm missing.
